Photographs of formal gardens surrounding Naumkeag, one of the historic Berkshire estates located in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.  Made with black and white infrared film, using traditional darkroom methods to produce gelatin-silver prints, those from The Why Tree series are hand-tinted. Infrared imagery is characterized by a surreal, other-worldly look with glowing highlights and dramatic black shadows.
